While I won’t spoil the end of The Natural for you, I recommend you see it, I’m making this same plea to you.

Yes, I happened to make it to round three of The Great Designer Search 2. Out of (assuming) 2000 people who entered (based on last time’s numbers and a safe estimate), there were 101 to go onto the next round.

But, you can still help out. I actually need your help. You can get your designs seen by people at WotC. Enchantments. Sorceries. Yes, even a Planeswalker.

Only the Penitent Man Shall Pass – Round One of GDS2

Hopefully by now, you received your e-mail saying you made it to Round Two of the Great Designer Search. I know that some people have been putting up their responses to the questions and I’d figure I’d do the same. I was being superstitious and didn’t want to post my responses before I had gotten that e-mail. I was going to do commentary, but I think we’ll leave the answers just the way they are.

Obviously, we’re not going to agree on all of these topics (which is good), and some people think the choices I picked made me punt the entire thing (which I don’t agree with). We’ll see in a couple of weeks.

I’ve got to completely update my Wiki as things have changed. I’ve gotten some great feedback from people and I need to incorporate it. As for now, my answers:

Editor’s Note: Behind the scenes inter-workings. This was going to be the title of the previous post, but it was combined with a previous draft and was less of an inspirational speech and more of a personal deceleration. Now, I’m really happy I can use this title.

First, I want to thank you all for yesterday. I’m glad that I it was accepted with such gusto by the MTG community. That was, by far, the most visited and voted on non-Lotus Cobra is Evil post in a while here on MTGCP. If I inspired you to do the same thing, good, we need more people like you.

Now that The Great Designer Search 2 has begun, it’s time to get cracking.

Be One Traveler, Long I Stood

Today, we sit at the eve of an event that will change one person’s life forever.

I don’t know if some of you grasp at the idea. Not that I’m trying to be insulting nor condescending, but tomorrow is a day that many have yearned for yet so few will get a better chance at it. A dream job will be open to those who are able to grab a hold of it with both hands and succeed.

There are two types of dream jobs. One, where you lie on the beach as women in bikinis fill your margarita glass as you house sit some rich person’s barely used house. The second is the kind where you wake up every morning and you can’t wait to get to work because you generally love what you do. Yes, hard decisions have to be made and it’s not all fun and games, but in that job, you feel most at home, like it was a piece of you that was missing for years until you finally found it. Everyone would love the first type of job, but only a select few get the opportunity to come even close to the second.

For this, this The Great Designer Search 2 (The Wrath of MaRo) is excatly that rare shot to get that dream job. No, the second one without the women in bikinis.
