Lotus Cobra is Evil – It All Makes Sense Now

StarCityGames columnist Bennie Smith wrote a few weeks about about a comic idea that would be funny to see (it’s a the bottom of the link). He asked me about it and I got a hold of Sixten to see if he could do it. While he wasn’t able to do the actual comic (he was having a problem with making it look foily), he did this instead. Yes, that is actually Bennie Smith in the comic. If you came here from Bennie’s post this week, here is the full size comic. Thanks Bennie for including Sixten and I in your work; you’re aweome.

(For those who are wondering, I don’t think Sixten will take any more requests to put themselves in a comic. If you read Bennie’s suggestion, he wasn’t even in the comic, it was all Sixten’s idea.)

Editor’s Note: New column where the point is short and sweet, just like a piece of pie. Except this piece is a little bigger then I thought it was going to be. Title reference for you younger readers.

Today Tom LaPille announced some of the card choices to M11. The biggest news was the official confirmation of M10 hottie Baneslayer Angel making the return to the Core Set this year. There was some speculation of her returning or not and making her a one-hit wonder. After all, her $50 price tag is pretty expensive (and something I touched on earlier) and taking her out of Standard so there would be that (possible) drop in price because she won’t be in high demand. Then there are those that say Baneslayer getting reprinted will cause her price tag should go down since there will be more of her. Those who already have a playset of Baneslayers and happen to open more might be more compelled to trade/sell them off getting more of her into the market.

That, luckily, isn’t the point of this article. Looking at the card choices so far, it’s easy to see what direction the Core Set is taking: Flavor.

Design Class – Who’s Afraid of Big Green Monsters?

It was announced yesterday on the Mothership the names of the Intro Decks in M11 (now 60 cards), and the foil rares we’ll be getting with them. Each color gets a shiny new creature to play with in iconic creature races.

Except Green.

Green, being the creature color, should have some iconic large creature that is easily identifiable in its color but doesn’t; Elves aren’t as big, size-wise, as Angels. It’s the only color with this issue.

White has Angels.

Blue now has Sphinxes.

Black has Demons and Vampires.

Red has Dragons.

Green has, Wurms?

That’ll strike the fear in your opponent. “Fear my Wurm!”

Yeah, let’s not go there.

First: sorry for the delay in the comic. It was a really long weekend and I kept telling myself “Oh, I can post this real quick when I have a minute.” You get Monday funnies rather than Sunday ones. Second: It looks like Sixten is getting busy as well as he has to focus on other things. Don’t take this as he’s done, but as a break to focus on “important” work. No matter what you think, I don’t have him chained up in my basement forcing him to draw LCiE. When there’s new comics, you’ll get them that next Sunday (really, none of this Monday stuff).
